High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)
for Prostate Cancer Therapy
Our mission is to provide the next generation of sound medicine through proven ablative technologies that precisely deliver care while sparing healthy tissue. This next generation of care involves expanding our current HIFU technology to treat a variety of clinical urologic application that balances both treatment effectiveness and quality of life.
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, or HIFU, is a therapy that destroys tissue Using ultrasound energy, or sound waves. When focused at a specific location "focal point", the targeted tissue temperature raises to 90 degrees Celsius while any tissue outside of the focal point remains unharmed.
HIFU has produced oncological results, in studies performed outside the United States, that are broadly comparable to standard therapies and HIFU is a minimally invasive prostate cancer therapy that does not use any radiation.
Advantages of HIFU
- No Blood Loss
- Quick Recovery
- Non Sugical
- Radiation Free
- An Outpatient Procedure
HIFU is available at affiliated International Treatment Centers in Bermuda and the Bahamas. Note HIFU is only approved by the FDA for investigational use within the United States.
